Shortly after the tragic incidents of 9/11, Mr. Balboni rapidly emerged as a true bi-partisan political operative. He produced one of the first-ever live Web chats between high-level officials within the National Security Administration at the Bush White House, moderated by then-high-ranking chair of the House Science and Technology Committee, Sherwood "Sherry" Boehlert (R-New York) and Schwartz security clients to address important security infrastructure issues post 9/11. Mr. Balboni would later bring a variety of qualified Schwartz clients to the Bush White House for high-level meetings with then- Cyber Security Czar's Richard Clarke and Howard Schmidt (now eBay's chief security officer). Balboni would later produce a live Web cast from Washington D.C. with Schwartz clients and Howard Schmidt to address increasingly problematic cyber security issues. In January of 2003, a West Pharmaceuticals plant in North Carolina suffered a serious explosion that left five of its employees dead and a number of them injured. Mr. Balboni lead the crisis communications effort which, in part, involved establishing clear, open lines of communications with local, state and national officials during this tenuous time, which led to his receiving several awards for his work around this unfortunate matter. Today, Mr. Balboni represents the global pharmaceutical company through Schwartz Communications, which has retained the services of the BCGroup.
